Lok Sabha member Kavitha noted that the Central Government called it liberation, when Goa merged into India, while the Telangana erstwhile Hyderabad State operation in the year 1948 was termed as police action and they never said liberation of Telangana. While some parties like the BJP and Telugu Desam celebrated it as “Liberation Day”, the TRS and others marked the occasion as “Hyderabad merger day”. They have started to rake up this issue to increase their political visibility in Telangana. The BJP is not scared of anybody.

The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), which demanded celebration of the day as an official event when it spearheaded the movement for statehood for Telangana, held the event in its office.

“You only want to recall the 1948 incident, what about 1969 incidents of Telangana agitation, what about 1952, what about 2001?…many, many kids were killed”.

He reminded KCR that the public of Telangana have made him Chief Minister and not Owaisi.

Praising Telanagana as a great land of history and heritage, Shah said Chandrasekhar Rao “is ineligible to rule such a great land”. “Since Telangana got a raw deal in undivided AP, we fought and achieved separate state”. Telangana is the land of Bhadrakali and we respect this land. “KCR is not eligible to rule such a great land”.

Noting that Maharashtra and Karnataka are celebrating the occasion as “Liberation Day”, Shah said, “I want to ask Chandrasekhar Raoji do you feel ashamed to celebrate it as liberation day?”

Alleging that KCR government is indulging in corruption, he said it should realize that it can’t continue ruling the state with defections as people have seen through its game. He wanted to know from the chief minister why the state government had not given input subsidy to farmers from drought-hit mandals even after the Centre released Rs. 900 crore towards drought relief to Telangana. He said if people want a government that is corruptionfree, development-oriented, and “free of the fear of Owaisi”, then they must strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and vote for the BJP in the next elections.
