The meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif also approved the design of the classrooms which would be constructed in schools. He said that additional classrooms would be constructed in 16 districts of south Punjab on priority basis.
The Punjab government, he said, was implementing a mega programme worth billions of rupees for the promotion of quality education and provision of missing facilities in schools. Besides the construction of new classrooms, rehabilitation work in improving the state of old schools will also be carried out. He said that a steering committee has already been formulated for construction of additional rooms under “Khadim-e-Punjab Schools Programme” and this committee will monitor implementation of the project and other matters.
“Promotion of education is the key to progress. We can not attain the goal of progress unless we equip the youth with quality education… that is why the provincial government always gives priority to steps aimed at ensuring good schooling across the province”, Sharif said.
He said that the measures taken for promotion of education were proving fruitful. A proposal to construct “smart classrooms” at primary and middle schools was also considered.
Provincial Minister Tanvir Aslam Malik participated in the meeting from Rawalpindi commissioner office through video link.
Earlier, the crew members of Punjab government’s Mi 17 helicopter safely returned Islamabad.
