Shahid Kapoor-Alia’s Shaandaar earns Rs. 20 crore so far
Twenty minutes in, I didn’t think it would be to my taste.

The film is said to be the sixth highest opener of 2015 leaving behind “Gabbar is Back” and “Dil Dhadakne Do”.
My initial misgivings were soon dispelled though.
In isolation, there are a couple of factors that the film has working for it. Amit Trivedi’s music is groovy, catchy and fresh. This clearly explains Shaandaar has turned down Irrfan Khan’s Talvar.
Shaandaar is about a girl called Alia who falls in love with a wedding planner Jagjinder Joginder who is managing her sister’s destination wedding. Alia is a creature of the night; in the sense that she can not sleep. Meanwhile an old witch, played by Sushma Seth, gorges on aaloo-paratha in a setting where hired sopranos stand by the dining table singing about sundried tomatoes. Shahid, Pankaj and Sanah (the Kapur khandaan) went along for an all-expenses-paid vacation.
So yes, you will, at some points in Shaandaar, let out a few chuckles. And when you put all this together, you get a film in the fashion of a Yash Raj-SRK blockbuster-only, with a somewhat fresh, contemporary flavour-and in a good way.
Being India’s first movie based on distance wedding, it was expected that the film must have a different kind of offering. In other words, the timing and manner of the interval is predictable, but what follows is not. She adds that she maintained her work out regime while on location too. “I can’t predict the future at this moment”.
Shaandaar is another fresh story from the director of Queen, and the buzz around this cute pairing has been rapidly growing. Sanah Kapoor as an overweight but confident Isha and Vikas Verma as her brash and narcissistic to- be husband make the most of their roles as well. The “Mehndi with Karan” sequence is supposed to send up Johar’s popular television chat show Koffee with Karan as well as his own grandiloquent movies.

The reason why Queen was such a likable movie is that apart from being such a fun fest, the character of Rani was someone you found believable and made a connection with; this movie gives you characters who end up being just cardboard caricatures. The star cast of this Film was very busy on the promotion because they well know that film will super hit on the basis of their promotion, so Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt see at various TV show for promotion of Film.
