The singer will voice Gazelle, who is described by The Hollywood Reporter as the biggest popstar in Zootopia – which, incidentally, is what the film is called in the US. The character will be performing Shakira’s songs “She Wolf” and “Whenever, Wherever” in the film.
Shakira’s voice will be heard in the film’s original English-language version, and her character also will sing her original song, “Try Everything“.
During today’s animated presentation at D23 (according to journalists on Twitter, it’s been going on for approximately 100 hours), the studio revealed new details on the musical Moana (with a surprise appearance from Dwayne Johnson), announced their “definitive” Jack and the Beanstalk movie enormous, and presented an extended look at Zootopia. Shakira joins a voice cast that includes Once Upon a Time’s Ginnifer Goodwin as rookie rabbit officer Judy Hopps and Jason Bateman as a con-artist fox named Nick Wilde. “You fall in love with her [Goodwin’s] character instantly”.
Zootopia has snagged Shakira to provide the voice of Gazelle.
