All the concerned agencies have been told to give blankets, shelter, food, medicines to those rendered homeless.
“But we will try to protect you, we will fight your battle”, the Congress Vice President told the slum dwellers. “Our friends in the TMC and JDU will do the same in Rajya Sabha since we don’t have any representation there”, said a party spokesperson. “We will raise the issue in parliament”, he said, slamming the Centre and AAP government.
Delhi CM Kejriwal responded to Rahul Gandhi and said, “Rahul did not seem briefed about the incident; Railways comes under the central government”. “Railways will prepare a schedule of land required for projects and rehabilitation will be done based on that”, said Kejriwal after the meeting.
NHRC said it had sent the notices after taking suo motu cognisance of media reports regarding the demolition of slum dwellings at two places in the city – Shakur Basti in west Delhi and Belagaon area in old Delhi.
The drive, he said, was aimed at “teaching a lesson to Kejriwal”.
