Sham inaugurates ‘Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday’ campaigning
Prime Minister Modi will participate in a function to be held in Madhya Pradesh’s Mhow city in connection with Ambedkar’s 125 birth anniversary celebrations and launch the nationwide “Gram Uday se Bharat Uday” campaign later in the day.

Tearing into the BJP and its ideological mentor RSS, she said “The right-wing outfit is bent upon destroying the democratic values, disturb secular fabric and alter Indian Constitution authored by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar”. “Babasaheb Ambedkar fought against injustice in society; his fight was for equality and respect”. “His was a fight for equality and dignity”, Modi said. Mr Modi arrived here from Indore in an Army helicopter to launch “Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday” campaign.
Attacking the Congress over its divisive politics, Modi said that those indulging in vote-bank politics never thought of anything except for dividing the society.
According to sources, the campaign will be run jointly by the ministries of Rural Development, Agriculture, Social Justice, Labour and Information and Broadcasting, along with the states. Making it a realm of diplomacy, he has tried to reach out to countries in East Asia, which have a Buddhist connect, BJP sources said.
At a public rally, Modi attacked opposition parties for doing little for the poor. “You should regret why you didn’t do it earlier”, Modi said, before ending his address with chants of “Jai Bhim”. “People ask me why I am doing it. There are people who get annoyed because the government is working for the poor. I told them I had been picked up(for the top post) to accomplish this hard task”, he said.
Terming Ambedkar as a “great human being”, Modi said despite all odds, he drafted the constitution without any prejudice. “This year’s budget is fully dedicated to the villages and the farmers”, he said.

In a dig at the Congress, Mr Modi said while some people have been calling themselves the “messiah of the poor for the last six decades”, the account of what they have done for the poor in the last 60 years is shocking even as they keep talking of the poor day and night. He said that a planned development of villages can bring big changes and visions of personalities like Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi, who had written about Gram Swaraj, can create this awareness.
