Shannen Doherty — Sues Business Manager … My Breast Cancer is Your Fault
TMZ reports that Doherty blames Tanner, Mainstain, Glynn & Johnson for this development in her health issues, and believes that if she had been enrolled in the insurance they let lapse then she could have caught the cancer sooner. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Doherty launched a lawsuit against her management firm, Tanner Mainstain, alleging that she was diagnosed with breast cancer in March, with the cancer spreading during a time she was uninsured. According to SAG, Shannen Doherty had no health insurance for the entirety of 2014. The management takes 5% of her earnings as payment for managing all of her financial affairs. In court documents filed today, Doherty insists it was the firm’s job to ensure “timely payment” of her medical insurance premiums through her membership in the Screen Actors Guild.

This past March, however, upon getting her insurance back in order, Doherty visited a doctor who discovered that she had “invasive breast cancer metastatic to at least one lymph node”.
Because of the alleged lapse, the actress says, she was uninsured until SAG’s next re-enrollment period this year, and “during 2014, Plaintiff did not have medical insurance, and thus did not regularly visit a doctor as she normally would have had she been insured”. Now the actress is seeking to hold the business manager in question responsible.
Calls placed to the firm and Blatt weren’t immediately returned Wednesday. “Along the way, they habitually deceive their clients, going so far as to set up bogus transactions, to hide their misdeeds, errors and omissions”.
Now, at the age of 44, Shannen Doherty is facing extensive treatment that could have been avoided with early detection.
