By now, all of us have heard the uproar evoked by Colin Kaepernick’s decision to protest social injustice and the injustice in our criminal justice system by kneeling during the National Anthem. Veterans were also showing their support for his right to protest via #VeteransForKaepernick on Twitter. When a film of that went viral, he explained his actions in an interview with NFL.com, saying it’s a deliberate social protest against police violence. It is those types of colorblind people that ignore the racial injustices in our society.

Kid Rock was not shy in expressing his feelings about National Football League player Colin Kaepernick during a recent concert at Fenway Park in Boston. “So if you’re going to be a true activist, you’ve got some investments to make after you voice your opinion”. If you had a player protest, I would be OK with that. This is becoming a big deal. “So if you want to be effective, the work has to be done”.

“The outside world doesn’t really respect athletes unless they talk about what they want them to talk about…”

Bring it up in conversations with friends and find out what they think. African Americans need job opportunities, prison reform and economic development.

Before leading the audience to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and a rock version of the “Star Spangled Banner,” Stanley told the crowd, “You should remember, patriotism is always cool”. Find out why and try to understand.
