Sharapova hungry for more shots at Serena
“She got herself back in the points”. Of course, if that grass were at Wimbledon, Sharapova still would lose.

Is there a more lopsided rivalry in all of sports? The win also marks Williams’ 18th consecutive victory and 19th in their 21 career meetings since 2004. “I’ve been playing all week aggressive but I didn’t start out that way”. It’s not necessarily anyone in particular. “I was just standing there kind of watching her playing”.
The No 5 seed said: “She played quite explosive”.
“I think she wrote me, but I was not able to check it right now”.
With Sharapova again swatted aside, the 34-year-old Williams, gunning to match Steffi Graf’s Open-era Grand Slam record of 22 titles, now has the composed Pole in her sights. She doesn’t give you many angles.
She set her stall out in the very first point as she thundered back Radwanska’s first serve before two more booming returns sealed an early break.
Not that either of those mattered. However, she hasn’t given up hope yet and reveals that Williams is infact “inspiring”.
Novak Djokovic has won the second set 6-2 of his semifinal against Roger Federer after taking the first 6-1. That led to the possibility that this might finally be the day the streak ended.
In her 16th Australian Open, Williams, who said this week she had no plans to retire any time soon, got on the front foot immediately, and effortlessly.
“I know Aga really well”.
Williams won the set in 20 minutes, one of the fastest of the tournament and humiliating for Radwanska, last year’s WTA Finals champion and one of the world’s top players.
Williams called for the trainer at the break then bossed Sharapova around the court, grabbing a 5-0 advantage as the Russian surrendered meekly. I mean, it’s motivating.
“It’s tough to sit here 30 minutes after the match and of course talk about the match, But that’s part of my job. Personally, I didn’t think I’d be playing at this age”, she said as she guns for a seventh Australian Open crown. As long as you still have the passion and dedication to work hard, and obviously if you can stay injury-free, it’s possible’.
Speaking of other players, though, Serena will play Agnieszka Radwanska in the semifinals.
Kerber has one win in six matches against Williams – in 2012. “It will be a good match”, Williams predicted. She said she had an upset stomach.
The next game saw the Russian push Serena onto the backfoot, as she pressed for the break, but the American held on after saving two break points. “I think the first set was definitely key to the rest of the match because I think it maybe might’ve taken some energy out of Tomas”.
What will it take for Maria Sharapova to beat Serena Williams?
The victor will play Serena Williams in Saturday night’s final. She shored up her errors and Sharapova offered little resistance. What does she have to do to halt it?
“I think everything is stoppable at some point, I guess. That’s why I’m going out there to try to win it”.

Arguably he has been the best player to date in the tournament, and an unlikely eighteenth Major title looks to be within his reach.
