Exchange operator ASX issued a notice on Monday morning saying a technical issue with a function managing individual shares had delayed the start of trading.

The market was due to open properly by 11.30am, according to the ASX.

The ASX later said that all transactions made between 11:10:53 AEST and 11:11:36 AEST would be cancelled due to an operational error.

At 1151 AEST the benchmark ASX/S&P200 was down 0.18 per cent, after the delayed start to trading at 1130 AEST.

A Chi-X spokesperson said the ASX issues had impacted the “orderly operation” of the Chi-X market, and “accordingly the Chi-X market open this morning will be delayed”.

“ASX is continuing to work with its technology vendor to prevent a recurrence”.

As of 11.38am, the ASX’s website says the exchange is “currently trading”.
