Minister of State in the PMO Jitendra Singh said: “The government recognised the plight of people living near LoC and IB with Pakistan for the first time and chose to include them in the compensation scheme”. “India continues to maintain that it is incumbent upon Pakistan to extradite Dawood Ibrahim and we hope that Pakistan will heed the opinion of the worldwide community on this issue”, Mr Swarup said, indicating that such issues that were “strategic” in nature might also feature in the August 30 Strategic Dialogue with the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. The UN has asked both countries to sort out their disputes through bilateral talks.

As Jammu and Kashmir continues to be on edge, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday reviewed the situation in the state with top BJP and government functionaries.

New Delhi has always accused Islamabad of arming and training militants fighting to secede Jammu and Kashmir from India. however, Pakistan has maintained that it only provides moral and diplomatic backing to the separatist campaign. The PM said Pakistan would expose the abuse of rights in the ongoing violence in the Valley. Local movement of occupied Kashmiris was crushed by violent use of force by Indian forces.

Senator Khan said Turkey had imposed emergency in the country for thirty days and the global community was raising voice against this act but Kashmiris have been denied rights for many years.

“Pakistan always had a clear stance that Kashmir dispute should be resolved in accordance with the United Nations resolutions. That anger just needed a spark, and Burhan Wani did that”, said Dulat, who was also adviser on Kashmir during Vajpayee stint.

The Kashmir issue is the most persistent failure of the United Nations, he said.
