The issue brought out unity in the Indian Polity and leaders from all the political parties slammed Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan.
I take the floor to exercise the right of reply in response to the long tirade of Pakistan about the situation in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.
The UN Secretary General praised Pakistan’s prominent and active role at the United Nations and its contribution to peace and security in the world, the press release added.
Sharif thanked the United Nations chief for his strong and supportive statements on the situation in Kashmir, and Ban praised Pakistan for its prominent and active role in the United Nations and its contribution for peace and security.
Indian officials said that items recovered from the site of the attack like grenades, food and medicines have all been made in Pakistan.
He also criticised Sharif for glorifying Wani, who was killed in an encounter with security forces on July 8, and said India “will not succumb to blackmail tactics of the Pakistan Government that seems eager to use terrorism as policy”. The militants were reportedly trained and sent by a Pakistan-based terror group.
He also referred to Russia and said that there has been continuous communication between the MEA and its Russian counterparts and everyone knows Russia’s stand on terrorism. “Pakistan is a farce of democracy where the perpetrators of terror and terrorists and those who work with terror network clearly get the highest priority. We will not allow externally sponsored terrorism and efforts of destabilisation to cause turbulence in Pakistan”.
Kohli also said that global community must also wake up to the harsh reality that Pakistan easily brandishes its nuclear arsenal and the risk of this falling into the hands and of being facilitated to reach the hands of terrorists and the perpetrator s of terror is very real.
She said: “What we see in Pakistan is a terrorist state, which channelizes billions of dollars, much of it diverted from worldwide aid, to training, financing and supporting terrorist groups as militant proxies against it neighbors”. “Perhaps renunciation of lies and self-restraint on threats could be a good place for Pakistan to start”. India once again raised the question whether Pakistan wants peace or violence.

At a time when tensions are mounting between the neighbours, Sharif insisted that “confrontation should not be our destiny in South Asia”. He added that Islamabad would fully support Kashmir’s independence from India.
