Sharif, Modi meeting has ‘underlying conflict of interest’: Imran Khan
Even on a Christmas Day, a number of think-tank experts and academicians expressed their views about Modi’s Lahore visit on the social media.

Mr. Modi announced his meeting with Mr. Sharif in a Twitter post from Afghanistan, where he had stopped on his return from a bilateral trip to Russian Federation.
Thus Modi ended 2015 with a unique diplomatic venture, having dinner in Moscow, breakfast and lunch in Kabul and afternoon Kashmiri noon chai (salt tea) at Sharif’s Raiwand residence.
Modi became the fourth Indian prime minister to visit Pakistan – and the first in 11 years.
“The Secretary General has always been encouraging both leaders of the two countries to engage in dialogue”.
“Narendra Modi’s unexpected visit to Pakistan has greatly hurt the sentiments of the loyal and patriotic people of the nation”, he said in a statement.
Modi said he was personally touched by Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s gesture of welcoming him at the airport and also seeing him off. Mr. Modi and Mr. Sharif saw each other in November 2014 at a South Asian summit in Nepal, but managed only a handshake.
Nalin Kohli, a spokesman for Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party, said in New Delhi that India was ready to take two steps forward if Pakistan took one to improve ties. Prime Minister Nawaz went to the airport afterwards to see his Indian “friend” off.
The report also states Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar is expected to visit the neighbouring country to discuss modalities for the Composite Dialogue process and that the meeting could take place on January 15 in Islamabad.
Press TV has conducted an interview with Sultan M. Hali, a journalist and retired officer in the Pakistani Air Force, and Uday Bhaskar, an Indian expert on security and strategic affairs, to discuss the relations between India and Pakistan.
In an obvious reference to Pakistan, Modi said there were “some who did not want us to be here”. Trump’s lead is up three points since December 1, and Cruz’s numbers show a two percentage point bump up, too.
The warm hug between Modi and Sharif was a shock to the people, which was the first time since Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s historic visit in 2004.
Ahead of his address, he and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani jointly inaugurated Afghanistan’s new parliament building which was constructed with Indian assistance of $90 million.

He also made a veiled reference to Pakistan on the issue of cross-border terrorism in Afghanistan. He was shifted to Jati Umra where both the premiers held a one and half hour long meeting.
