Some supporters feared Bailly, only 22, would struggle to acclimatise to life in the Premier League following just one full season in La Liga prior to his arrival at Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old Bailly, who is an Ivory Coast worldwide, has been crucial in the heart of United’s defence since signing from Villarreal in the close season as the Red Devils have won their opening three games in the Premier League.
Scholes told Rio Ferdinand in a the Five video blog, “I’m not sure if they will win it this year”.
The 41-year-old explained that he is unsure of United’s current backline consisting of Daley Blind and Antonio Valencia, and added that the Red Devils could struggle with the duo in their side for the games against the bigger teams.
Speaking with ManUtd.com, Bailly outlined how the influence of Mourinho has helped him make such a seamless transition into the Premier League. “I hope to see more of that in the weeks ahead of us”. I think last couple of years we’ve anxious about goals. Whether he’s good enough at centre-half in big games?
While Antonio Valencia has since shown great form in that role, Mourinho was reportedly looking to sign the Brazilian global for a fee of around £30m.
Under Louis van Gaal, the Red Devils were often accused of being boring after failing to create, let alone convert, chances on a regular basis. “Defensively again, in the big games, I’m not sure”.
