Meanwhile, the Jones family is preparing for Jones’ funeral, which is scheduled for Saturday in West Palm Beach. Raja was on duty but was wearing civilian clothing and driving an unmarked auto, police Chief Stephen Stepp told reporters last week.

Jones’ grandfather, Sylvester Banks Sr., addressed the rally, saying “We need righteousness”.

“It looks like they assigned an untrained officer to conduct surveillance”, said police practices consultant Chuck Drago.

Police say that Raja claims that he was “suddenly confronted by an armed subject” when he fatally shot Jones.

‘We take this investigation very seriously and as such, we can not afford to rush, cut corners or appear partial, ‘ said Aronberg. “Our responsibility is to seek justice, our loyalty is to the community, and our commitment is to the truth”.

Aronberg later read a version of that statement to the crowd, which at times chanted: ‘No justice!

Sharpton, 61, is known for leading civil rights protests after racially charged incidents in New York, including the 1984 Bernhard Goetz slaying of four black men on a New York City subway, the 1986 assault on three black men in Howard Beach and the beating of four black teens in 1989 in the Bensonhurst neighborhood of Brooklyn.

That first gun was later stolen so Jones bought another gun by making monthly payments, finally picking it up three days before his death, she said.

Jones made 15 calls to roadside assistance that morning, phone records show.

Jones called #HELP at 3.10am, around five minutes before he was killed.

Since the phone company records a few phone calls to the helpline, the moments before and after Jones died may have been taped.
