Shashank Mohan elected as ICC Chairman

His tenure will be completed by current BCCI president Shashank Manohar, who will now head the world body’s Executive Committee till June 2016. “We are scheduled to play 12 games (Tests) (India are to host New Zealand and England as per ICC’s FTP)”. Apart from the office-bearers, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Ajay Shirke, MP Pandove and Sourav Ganguly will be the members of the GC which will continue to be headed by Rajeev Shukla. Shashank Manohar, the BCCI president, reminded those gathered at the AGM on Monday (November 9) of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to play a two-Test, five-ODI series in December in UAE.

“With regard to conflict of interest, an imbursement has been appointment by the board and former Chief Justice of India A.P. Shah will look into the complaints if any”, Manohar said.

But Manohar will need all his negotiating skills as a practising lawyer to get it passed without diluting the reach and scope of the Conflict of Interest Clause.

Retired cricketers on BCCI’s payroll or contracted to the Board should not be part of the Board’s various committees, including the IPL Governing Council, as per another proposal on the same issue.

Srinivasan first entered cricket administration in 2002, when he was elected the president of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association.

Asked how the same board members had sung a different tune during Mr Srinivasan’s almost 10-year reign in BCCI, in various positions as treasurer, secretary and president, Mr Manohar said: “Circumstances forced people; better not go into it. Everyone spoke in the meeting with clarity”.

The cities named were: Rajkot, Pune, Chennai, Vishakapatnam, Cuttack, Ranchi, Nagpur, Indore and Dharamsala.

The Board appointed former Andhra and India stumper M S K Prasad (South) and ex-India and Rajasthan opener Gagan Khoda as replacements for Hans and Binny in the selection panel. There should not be injustice on Stuart Binny also.

But the cement tycoon has been caught up in corruption scandals that have hit the glitzy and lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL).

Speaking on the 2 new groups for the ninth version of IPL, Manohar stated, “We are going to have a draft public sale so far as the 2 groups are involved”. The BCCI is also due to take a decision on players who have a conflict of interest.
