Shaun Hill Reportedly to Start Against the Titans Sunday

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater had a successful knee surgery on Thursday, the team announced.

It was reported Friday that Shaun Hill, not Bradford, would be the Vikings’ starting quarterback when they take on the Tennessee Titans Sunday in Nashville.

On the other hand, it’s understandable that the Vikings didn’t want to rush Bradford in after only joining the team six days ago. Then things went downhill, despite the Vikings doing everything they can to manufacture him touches: he managed just 25 yards from scrimmage and produced 1,044 all-purpose yards past year, leading to his appearance in a mere 9.1 percent of the team’s snaps. Either way, expect Minnesota to turn to Adrian Peterson often in this game.

Hill last started a game in 2014, when he was named starter of the St. Louis Rams once Bradford tore his ACL.

And with Johnson, the team’s most-targeted receiver, retired, there should be more targets to go around. The most important thing for him is to do the rehab and the things that he has to do. He’s had a very good preseason.

That’s true. Peterson has been the focal point of the offense almost every season he has played for the Vikings.

The 23-year-old will miss the 2016 season, and the nature and timing of the injury will make it hard for Bridgewater to be at full strength for 2017, too.

Ex-49er Miller charged with felonies • Prosecutors charged former San Francisco 49ers tight end Bruce Miller on Thursday with seven felonies and one misdemeanor, including beating a 70-year-old man with a cane in a drunken assault earlier this week at a Fisherman’s Wharf Hotel.

The Minnesota Vikings had a great 2015 season, finishing 11-5 before dropping a heart-wrenching 10-9 decision to the Seattle Seahawks in the wild card round. Marcus Mariota enjoyed a good rookie year despite missing time with injuries, and has looked sharp during training camp and exhibition games. Bradford threw for over 3,700 yards and 19 touchdowns last season, which were countered by 14 interceptions.

The Titans have a brand new running core to complement Mariota’s play. So the move has the Vikings looking like they can contend again. He will be expected to take a step forward this season. Tennessee without question improved their backfield, acquiring DeMarco Murray from the Philadelphia Eagles while also drafting Alabama’s Derrick Henry in the second round of this year’s draft. And the Bears’ offense was surprisingly good in 2015, headlined by a solid passing season for Jay Cutler and a strong ground game (albeit one led by the now-departed Matt Forte). “It just helps getting reps at practice”.
