Shaw to be spared PSV reunion with Man United

In the reverse fixture at the Philips Stadion, Luke Shaw broke his leg in two places following a tackle by PSV defender Hector Moreno.

“Jones and Herrera can not play”.

As a result, Moreno received a lot of flak from the Red Devils supporters and ahead of PSV’s trip to Old Trafford on Wednesday night, the Mexican global is set for a hostile reception.

The striker has been criticised by fans and experts for his performances, so much so that manager Louis van Gaal had to come in defence of the striker.

But left-back Shaw has been spared a reunion with PSV as he continues his recovery from the double leg break he sustained in United’s 2-1 defeat in Eindhoven in September, which was their opening Group B game.

Michael Carrick, who hurt his ankle on England duty, will also miss the game, along with long-term absentees Luke Shaw and Antonio Valencia.

“I don’t think he will be here, but I don’t know”.

United have dropped just two points since they lost in Eindhoven, so victory on Wednesday will send Van Gaal’s men through to the knockout stages with one match to spare.

Rooney and Martial missed Saturday’s 2-1 Premier League win at Watford with illness and injury respectively, while Fellaini returns from a calf problem, but United will be without Phil Jones and Ander Herrera, who were injured at the weekend.

“I can not answer because you have to be very cautious with an injury like that”, he added of Shaw’s expected recovery time.

“That is why (Marouane) Fellaini and Rooney and (Anthony) Martial have to show it on the training ground and then I have to compare which are the best players to fit in our game plan”.
