Shazam Announces Faster Recognition Time, In-app Search, and over 2 Billion
The other new feature is access to text-based search right from the app’s home screen. Now, all that is gone because Shazam updated their software and you will have a result faster than ever before so that annoying thought won’t get stuck in your head.

Shazam started offering its music discovery services to iPhone users on 2002. “But this update represents the biggest to-date changes to our core algorithm”, Shazam CEO Rich Riley said in a statement. The goal, naturally, is to convince you to stay within Shazam rather than hopping over to the web for music research.
Shazam continues to welcome the world’s artists to share their own moments of discovery with fans.
The launch of the new update coincides with the debut of a new Shazam feature called Verified Artists. With more robust search results, users are likely to stick around inside the app for longer periods of time (thus potentially exposing themselves to additional advertising, earning Shazam more money) versus backing out to look for more information via Google. With this tool, users can type the names of songs or artists, search by album, and even try to find songs with just a few lyrics.
Because of Shazam’s Research and Development team, they have now introduced new technology that will make the app faster in recognizing the song that’s currently playing at a coffee shop or on the bus. Shazam claims to have over 120 million active users on its app.

To be more specific, as soon as the user makes a search with Shazam, the app, using its huge database, will display a lot of details about the song being player, besides name and artist, like the album, the profile of the artist(s) and more related songs. Shazam also revealed that the 600 artists who are sharing their content on the service have managed to reach 2 billion followers collectively.
