The Detroit Red Wings have on for a close run one goal win with a 4-3 against the Montreal Canadiens. I don’t even want to talk about how they almost blew a 4-0 lead heading into the third period against the Canadiens tonight.

Petr Mrazek kept the lead and had 26 saves for the Red Wings, who are in a tightly contested race for a wild-card spot. “You got two points, and nobody’s going to ask you in a couple days how you won the game”.

With Boston losing to Florida, the Wings edged within a point of the Bruins for third place in the Atlantic Division, a guaranteed playoff berth.

Coach Blashill thought the Red Wings came out fine but gave up some free goals.

“Who knows how many more games he’ll see”, he said.

JETS 4, KINGS 1: Dustin Byfuglien and Paul Postma scored less than three minutes apart early in the third period to help Winnipeg win at home. They always play us hard. He backhanded in the rebound of Smith’s shot.

The goal was Plekanec’s first in 20 games.

“There’s not going to be any knight in shining armor that comes over the fence here and through the door that’s going to get the job done for us”, Howard said.

Mrazek stopped Pacioretty on a short-handed breakaway with 9:19 left in the first period.

Craig Smith had the decisive goal in the shootout after the Nashville Predators scored twice to tie in the third period in a 3-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks. Sheahan contributed his second goal when the picked up the puck at Montreal’s blue line, went up the middle and sent the puck in off the crossbar. He made a move on Scrivens and put a forehand shot under the crossbar.

Overcome with emotion, Pronovost could not hold back the tears.

Mantha converted on Detroit’s fourth power play when he picked up Brad Richards’ rebound and fired it behind Scrivens from just outside the left goalpost late in the second period. It was Plakanec’s 13th goal. It was Pacioretty’s 25th goal.

“In the end, all that matters is we got the two points”, Mrazek said. Canadiens C David Desharnais played, returning from a 17-game absence because of a foot injury…. The Red Wings have made the playoffs the past 24 seasons….
