On his return, Peter and Indrani maintained that Sheena had moved to the United States whenever they were confronted by Rahul, the CBI said. Rahul has submitted clips of such phone conversations to investigators.
Peter, husband of key accused Indrani Mukerjea, was on Thursday arrested by the CBI, which thereafter filed its chargesheet in the case in a magistrate court. Peter is charged with murder and criminal conspiracy.
The sensational chargesheet also stated that besides the financial dispute, the motive behind Sheena’s murder could have been her “relationship” with Rahul, which had irked Indrani. Rahul was recording all the telephonic conversation he had with both Peter and Indrani. The clips will be crucial evidence to prove conspiracy charges. Though an entry in the station diary had been made-the police chose to do a post-mortem at the site itself. It said that four serious charges have been levelled against him.
Refuting media reports on the alleged involvement of a senior police officer in delaying the Sheena Bora murder probe, Bakshi had earlier said the government had received no official communication from CBI on the issue.
According to the chargesheet filed by the CBI, after Sheena’s murder Indrani had sent SMSes to Rahul impersonating as Sheena.
The prosecution’s case has been that Indrani and other two arrested accused – her second husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamvar Rai – allegedly “abducted” Sheena between 6.30 pm and 7.30 pm on April 24, 2012, from Bandra (west) in their auto and “strangulated” the latter in the vehicle and that on the following morning they carried the body of the deceased packed in a bag (which had they kept in the rear side of the car) to the jungles Gogade Khurd village off the Khopoli-Pen Road, where they doused the bag with petrol and set it on fire. A team of police officers interrogated him, asking him about the goal of making a will in 2011 and why he had not tried to inquire about Sheena’s whereabouts.
This year, the CBI claims, Indrani offered off a South Delhi condo after understanding of her affair she’d blessed her child. After getting Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis’s go ahead, the minister of state for home Dr Ranjeet Patil and Bakshi had taken a decision on September 18 to transfer the murder probe to the CBI.

Peter’s arrest has come as a “shock” for his son. The CBI obtained Indrani and Peter’s voice samples to match them with the voices in the clips. As per the report on Indrani, her samples have matched.
