Shelby Miller continues losing streak
Atlanta Braves’ Jonny Gomes, right, is approached by colleague Adonis Garcia after a a alone own home flow within the 6th inning regarding a 3-hitter resistant to the Colorado Rockies, Wednesday, August 26, 2015, in Atlanta. But he encountered some tough luck in the seventh, as Barnes’ double bounced in front of diving left fielder Michael Bourn and Blackmon’s two-out RBI single bounced high off the plate, creating no chance for an out.

Brandon Barnes had three hits, including a two-run homer, and Jose Reyes had a two-run triple in the seventh that gave the Rockies the lead for good. But his winless streak extended to 18 when he could not shut down the Rockies in the decisive seventh.
Barnes tacked on a two-run homer in the eighth off Edwin Jackson.
Wednesday night was yet another occasion when Shelby Miller looked to be in great position to snap a three-month winless streak. Atlanta did put two men on the bottom of the ninth, but when John Axford retired Pedro Ciriaco, the lights turned out on another series loss.
Rockies: Former Atlanta farmhand Yohan Flande (3-1) will make his 14th appearance of the season, his sixth as a starter. But he got out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the second inning with a strikeout and double play. LeMahieu has now hit in each spot in the lineup this season, making him the first Rockies player to accomplish the feat. 3B Nelson Arenado was a healthy scratch.
Blackmon, who was drafted by the Rockies out of Georgia Tech, returned to Atlanta for a three-game series against the Braves after going 13-for-34 (.383) in the Rockies’ nine-game homestand.

The Rockies will have a day off Thursday and open a three-game series at Pittsburgh on Friday. The Rockies inserted the 29-year-old into the rotation at the end of July and he has responded with a 3-0 mark and a 3.90 ERA in five starts. Braves rookie Williams Perez (4-4, 4.76) will face Masahiro Tanaka (9-6, 3.61) in the opener.
