‘Shenmue 3’ PS4 Physical Version Reward Confirmed On Kickstarter | High-Def

The Shenmue 3 Kickstarter rolls on, like a forklift making its way around the docks at dawn. After the Kickstarter campaign ends, which will be in about 2 weeks, backers in the $60+ tiers will receive a survey where they can choose between receiving one of the following: PS4 physical copy, PS4 digital copy, Windows PC physical copy, or Windows PC digital copy.

Shenmue 3 developer Ys Net confirmed the news on Kickstarter, explaining that backers could secure a physical copy by pledging $60 (£38.50) or more.

The Kickstarter update reads “This is one of the most requested items on the list, and we are very happy to be able to include the Shenmue 3 PS4 Kickstarter Backer’s Edition as a Reward”. But as Suzuki explained in late June, the money raked in from Kickstarter backers is earmarked primarily for the development of Shenmue 3.

The campaign states in its $5 million stretch goal that reaching the milestone in funding will introduce a character perspective system to Shenmue 3, which Suzuki said is something that he has always wanted to include in the game. The odds of hitting that $10 million figure seem to be slim.

The original goal for the game was $2 million and as of writing, it has raised over $4.3 million with 11 days to go.

Considering the sheer amount of demand for a sequel to the Shenmue series, it’s hard to imagine Shenmue 3 as being a success – at least at the retailers.
