Representative Pettalia was a good friend of ours here at WBKB, and we are heartbroken over the news.
– Governor Rick Snyder (@onetoughnerd) September 13, 2016Peter had a long career committed to helping the people he represented and served. “He will be missed by many people here in Lansing as well as in his long-time home of Presque Isle and throughout his district”. Pettalia was 61 and had lived in Presque Isle since 1977.
“Pettalia was a tremendous public servant during his far too short time in the Michigan House”, Michigan GOP Chairman Ronna Romney McDaniel said in a late-night statement.
For the second time this year a Michigan State House Representative has died in office.
House Speaker Cotter and the Michigan Republican Party have also issued statement’s on Pettalia’s death. His commitment to his constituents can not be overstated.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.
“Condolences to the entire Pettalia family, as well as his colleagues”, Dillon wrote on Twitter.
