And because Halloween has evolved into a popular adult holiday, AAA also recommends party-going adults designate a sober driver to take them home at evening’s close.

Kelly and the Clark County Sheriff’s Office want to ensure all children in the area have a great Halloween experience.

Choose or make Halloween costumes which allow your trick-or-treater to see clearly.

Trick or Treaters should only go to homes of people they know, and who have porch lights on.

Remind kids to stay on sidewalks when possible, carry flashlights and cross streets only at corners or crosswalks. Children may unexpectedly dart out in the street or from between parked cars.

Teach children to say “NO!” in a loud voice if someone tries to get them to go somewhere, accept anything other than a treat, or leave with them.

Here are a few tips to help keep you, your family, and your friends safe this Halloween!

Police constable Dave Wise, of Malvern’s safer neighbourhood team, added: “We want you to have a good time during Halloween and we also want you to remain safe”.

Talk to your children about putting down their electronic devices when walking or crossing the street.

Check your children’s candy.

Trick-or-Treaters should always be in groups so they aren’t a tempting target for real life goblins.

Nowadays people still dress up in spooky costumes and visit neighbours houses, asking for a “Trick or a Treat”.

“I basically tried to pick out costumes that they wouldn’t trip and fall when they are trick or treating”.

“We’re asking parents to examine all candy, edible items, toys and trinkets prior to kids taking or eating them”.

Make sure children wear light colors or put reflective tape on their costumes.

“A safe Halloween means seeing and being seen”, said Nick Jarmusz, director of public affairs for AAA Wisconsin.
