The Las Vegas gunman’s girlfriend returned to the US overnight after a weekslong trip overseas and was met by investigators seeking to question her for clues to what drove Stephen Paddock to slaughter 59 people from his high-rise hotel suite.

The gunman was later identified Stephen Paddock from Mesquite, N.V. As police tried to secure the area and locate Paddock, the Las Vegas Strip was temporarily closed, and inbound and outbound flights at McCarran International Airport were briefly halted. How is it possible to bring 23 weapons, including multiple assault rifles, into a hotel room from a car-and then store them-without being noticed? More than 500 others were injured either by gunfire or by trying to escape it.

Las Vegas Boulevard on Tuesday stayed closed to traffic near the scene of the mass shooting.

Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo told reporters: “This individual was pre-meditated”.

However, there is still a lot they don’t know about what motivated Paddock, described by officials as a “lone wolf”, to launch the most deadly mass shooting in modern USA history. More to the point is the fact that Paddock was able to purchase a deadly arsenal without breaking any laws, whether or not he used the guns from these stores during the shooting.

Police confirmed the 64-year-old had installed cameras within the 32nd floor room at the Mandalay Bay hotel and in the hallway.

Officials are also looking to talk with Paddock’s girlfriend, Marilou Danley, who they don’t believe was involved.

It is still unclear what weapon or weapons Paddock during the shooting.

Police say they still haven’t determined a motive for the attack.

Nevada gun laws are among some of the most relaxed in the US.

Paddock’s brother, Eric Paddock, of Orlando, FL, said he was a wealthy retired accountant and high stakes gambler.

“We’re going to see some of the folks that are recovering, some of the survivors”, Trump said ahead of the trip.

Gun users can achieve a similar, though less controlled effect by sticking their finger through their belt loop or simply by holding a stick between the trigger and the trigger guard.

An outpouring of messages of support for the families of victims flooded social media, and netizens condemned the massacre which US President Donald Trump called “an act of pure evil”.
