Sherlock producer on how Victorian era changes Holmes and Watson
When asked what he could reveal about the special, co-creator and executive producer Steven Moffat joked, “We’re going to put in on television and you’re going to be able to watch it. And it will be full of spoilers”. “I quite like it, ‘” said Moffat. “Sherlock Holmes delivers the breeds of a Victorian man that he doesn’t have in common day, and so he’s less brattish”, Moffat said. “We’re not making this up”.

What Moffat could say was that his leads enjoyed doing a period Sherlock, but one actor seemed to like it more. BBC and PBS are really keeping you waiting when it comes to new episodes set in the present (the special is set during Victorian England), and there are many question marks still out there about what this fourth season will be or when it will premiere.
– Ghosts may be involved.
“We never bothered explaining what they were doing in modern London, so why bother explaining what they’re doing in Victorian London, when that’s where they’re supposed to be?” he said. “Soon-ish”, said Masterpiece executive producer Rebecca Eaton.
The Sherlock special episode will be focusing on ghost stories as Moffat explained that these work better in the Victorian setting.
We imagine that now that this panel is out of the way, it could be several weeks or even a month or two before the BBC finally confirms the Christmas Special. Season Four of Sherlock will return to modern times. “We are in very close touch with the BBC, and we are working very hard to not frustrate the fans…” It will likely air in the United States not long after that.

Those in attendance at the PBS panel for the Television Critics Association press tour were eager to know when Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman will be back in the U.S. airwaves as Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. Fans of Sherlock hope that they will want to do so for many more years, though both Freeman and Cumberbatch might have trouble with their time commitments, as they have both become highly marketable movie stars.
