Sherri Shepherd to remain on surrogate son’s birth certificate after court
Sherri Shepherd’s appeal to have her name removed from the birth certificate of the son born via surrogate who’s being raised by her ex-husband Lamar Sally, was denied on Monday. Unfortunately, the defense didn’t work and Sherri will still have to pay child support after losing her recent bid.

According to TMZ, an appeals court agreed with the lower court’s decision that Sherri was fully on board with the surrogate plan and in fact, paid for most of the process.
Terms go the settlement also include that Shepherd will have to pay an extra $500 a month once “LJ” turns 13 for a stipend of $4,600. Months afterward, during the surrogate’s pregnancy, the couple split.
The actress has fought efforts to be named the boy’s mother on his 2014 birth certificate.
A Pennsylvania judge ruled in April of this year however that Shepherd was legally the young boy’s mother and as such would be required to contribute to the child’s expenses.
Shepherd claims Sally defrauded her into having a baby with his sperm and a donor’s eggs.
Sherri Shepherd’s baby saga continues.
The court’s ruling has bigger implications regarding the surrogacy in the United States.
