Police tape hangs in front of of actor Michael Jace’s home on May 20, 2014, in Los Angeles.
A Southern California jury deliberated for fewer than three hours Tuesday before concurring on the guilty verdict. “When she says ‘no more, I have to get out of this, ‘ he kills her”, said Deputy District Attorney Tannaz Mokayef during her closing arguments.
Jace and his deceased wife shared two young sons.
Jace waited for her to come home and shot her before calling the police.
Jace’s defense attorney, Jamon Hicks, advocated for a voluntary manslaughter conviction.
In addition to The Shield, Jace also appeared in the show Southland as well as films Boogie Nights, Planet of the Apes, and Forrest Gump.
“I was just angry”, Jace told investigators, according to a released transcript.
Jace also stated that all he wanted to do was shoot her in the leg and inflict pain, but she bled out as a result.
