Shiv Sena attacks PM Modi’s surprise visit to Pakistan
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Pakistan is a “positive step” which would lead to more such steps, Minister of State in the PMO Jitendra Singh said today while noting that peace parleys between the two countries would benefit Jammu and Kashmir the most. He also said that if all Indians join this appeal of PM and support, then it will be a new beginning of India.

In his last edition of ‘ Mann Ki Baat’, Prime Minister Modi expressed concern over the flood situation in Tamil Nadu, climate change, differently-abled people and also asked the SAARC nations to join hands for disaster preparedness. He further added that although Modi has been trying to project the country’s “Unity in Diversity” theme overseas, rising cases of intolerance this year marked a new political low.
Prime Minister Modi in a surprise move which has been termed as “birthday diplomacy” on Friday evening reached Lahore’s Allama Iqbal Airport to meet his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif. “On January 16, the Government of India will unveil the full action plan for Start-up India, Stand-up India…”
He also sought ideas from the youth about the “National Youth Festival” that will commence on January 12, marking the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The Prime Minister also noted that Parliament recently had a good debate on the Constitution to mark the birth anniversary of its architect BR Ambedkar. He is a very busy person.
Branding the visit a “duel standard” by the government, the leaders alleged that Modi had taken “U-turn” regarding Pakistan.
Observing that there has been little discussion over fundamental duties in the country, the prime minister invited people’s views on it by the Republic Day. The chief minister said Modi should remember that a robust foreign policy can sustain itself only on the foundation of a strong domestic policy.

On its part the ruling BJP maintained that the opposition should refrain from the politicization of PM Modi’s “Mann ki Baat” programme and should instead contribute to it. “Mann ki Baat is not a political platform”.
