The conditions of Greebel’s $1million release included promising to stay inside NY state – but a judge made a decision to let him fly to Cancun with his family.
Greebel will fly on December 23rd to the Mexican vacation hotspot, stay for Christmas and New Year, then return in early January.
After Martin Shkreli drew public ire last summer for hiking the price of a drug that’s critical to AIDS patients and pregnant women by 5,500 percent, the news of his arrest this month on charges of defrauding investors warmed the internet’s heart. Greebel plans to spend a little over a week in the tropical resort town with his wife, their three children, her parents, and a family friend, BuzzFeed News reports.
In a letter filed Monday, Greebel’s defense lawyer Jonathan Sack asked that the trip be permitted to “preserve as great a sense of normalcy as possible for his young children”.
Martin Shkreli is back in the news today, as he has been removed as CEO from his second pharmaceutical company, California biotech firm KaloBios Pharmaceuticals.
Evan Greebel being escorted by police out of 26 Federal Plaza by law enforcement officials after being arrested for securities fraud. Prosecutors allege Shkreli illegally took stock from his previous company, Retrophin, to pay unrelated business costs.
