Last week, the Department of Education took oversight actions to prevent ITT from continuing to add to that risk.

Students like Diana Rencher said they received an email Tuesday morning alerting students to the closing. The campus also offered five bachelor degree programs such as information services and cybersecurity and criminal justice.
“I don’t want to start over with a new loan, I already got $23,000 on me”, ITT student Maria Arcuaga said.
ITT had been in talks about transferring ownership, the Journal reported, though there was some dispute between the Education Department and the company over how far those talks got or how realistic they were.
ITT Technical Institute in Sylmar and Oxnard have closed following an announcement Tuesday by parent company ITT Educational Services Inc. that all campuses nationwide cease operations. ITT Educational Services says it was forced to take the action after the U.S. Department of Education issued sanctions August 25, including a ban on enrolling new students who rely on federal financial aid.
A for-profit college chain with campuses in the Twin Cities is shutting down after the U.S. Department of Education banned it from enrolling new students using federal aid. According to NPR, about a dozen state attorneys general examined rumors that ITT lied to students about job prospects and that ITT could have accepted students who were qualified for their school’s educational mission.
While the closure of so many institutions comes as a shocker, those familiar with the company and its feud with the U.S. Education Department weren’t caught off guard.
In a blog post released Tuesday, U.S Education Secretary John King said students now or recently enrolled at ITT, may be eligible to have their federal student loans dismissed.

“If you attended an ITT school that closed while you were attending or soon after you withdrew, and you did not complete your program of study, you may be eligible for a closed school discharge”.
