Israeli soldiers stand outside a Palestinian house during a search near the Tel Rumeida settlement in the West Bank city of Hebron, Saturday, November 7, 2015.

Locals told Ma’an that a flying checkpoint was set up on the main road between Hebron and the town of Halhul to Hebron’s north, where Israeli soldiers stopped Palestinian vehicles and inspected passengers.

Ma’an News Agency reported that security footage posted online shows the woman, identified as Hilwa Salim Darwish, pulling a knife from her purse and lunging at the guard, who suffered light injuries.

The guard was lightly wounded.

Israeli authorities say that the detained are accused of carrying out attacks against Israelis, whereas Palestinian human rights organization accuse Israel of tutoring Palestinians to intimidate them from participating in protests against Israel.

A rocket fired from the Palestinian enclave slammed into open ground in Israel, but caused no apparent casualties, the Israeli army said in a statement.

Since October 1, 11 Israelis have been killed in street attacks by Palestinians motivated in part by Muslim agitation at stepped-up Jewish visits to a contested Jerusalem holy site, and by deadlocked US-backed peace-making efforts.

Police spokeswoman Luba Samri explained that two of the Israelis were moderately wounded in the attack, according to The Times of Malta.

The number of Israeli casualties in a weeks-long wave of Israeli-Palestinian violence rose to 12 on Sunday, after a border guard injured last week succumbed to his wounds, the Israeli police said.
