Shooter at Umpqua Community College identified
According to CBS News, the gunman responsible for killing 9 people and wounding at least 7 others at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg has been identified as 26-year-old Christopher Harper Mercer. Two days later, the president spoke about terror at home; the terror of being shot on the streets, in schools, movie theaters, churches, and countless other places where guns have killed.

The Oregon State Police said it is believed that there was only one shooter. Local media reported that authorities were combing through the campus.
Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin said more than 100 police officers responded and “neutralised” the male attacker after a shootout.
Mr. Hanlin had said earlier in the day that the gunman was dead.
Federal authorities say the gunman is among the 10 people killed in a shooting at an Oregon college. It was not clear whether he fired them all.
Sgt Aaron Dunbar of the Roseburg Police Department told CNN the “entire college went into lockdown very quickly”. Law enforcement officials said he lived in the Roseburg area, and they said one witness said that he asked about peoples’ religions before he began firing.
Another student, Kenny Ungerman, told NBC that he saw the gunman, dressed in jeans and a T-shirt, carrying a handgun as he entered the building, before gunshots and screams rang out.
Another mass shooting in the United States has sent dozens to hospital and possibly killed up to 15 people. “From talking with a student in the classroom where it happen, nearly every person in the room was shot by a man with four guns”, Winder, 23, wrote. “I’m shaking right now”, she said.
On Wednesday, a student who got into an argument with the principal at a high school in South Dakota pulled a gun and shot the school official in the arm before he was tackled and subdued by staff.
“It was like a huge burden had been lifted”, she said. Someone clicked the door shut and the students huddled in the corner, blocking themselves with desks and backpacks.
“You will never hear me mention his name”, Hanlin said. “It was horrific. My whole body was shaking”.
