Indianapolis police have arrested a man in the shooting death of a pastor’s pregnant wife during an apparent home invasion. Mr Landrieu said the shooting is “not something that can be tolerated in the city”. The (New Orleans) Times-Picayune reported that after the shooting, the scene appeared quite disturbing with wounded people scattered around the park’s main building while their belongings were strewn across the ground.
Joseph Jordan told the Associated Press he and his friend Raven heard the gunshots from inside a home across the street from the park. Her 14-year-old daughter was hit once in the knee and five times in her backside.
Hayney said she afterwards counted seven bullet holes in her truck.
Several people were seen lying injured on pavements after the shooting.
The condition of all 16 victims, who were injured by direct gunshot wounds or graze wounds, is believed to be stable.
Harrison told WDSU-TV that the shooting might have been gang-related.
Witnesses reported that at least two gunmen opened fire.
Police said they did not have the age or gender of the victims. He conceded, however, that many in the city don’t feel safe.
