The Best Buy opened at 5 p.m. Thursday. But despite it being Thanksgiving day, people were happy to be out shopping and liked the early start.

“I definitely saw more people past year”, the Charleston resident said of the line.

“Florida continues to see a strong increase in its economy thanks to record-setting tourism, increased consumer confidence, a surging real estate market and a seven-year low in unemployment, all of which mean big expectations for retailers this holiday season”, McAllister said.

Best Buy is selling the television for $149.99, which is a savings of $280.

“Other TVs are running more for smaller TVs”.

Some shoppers got in line at 11:30 a.m. and skipped the Thanksgiving meal. This year, she had her eyes on the 49-inch Toshiba LED 1080p HDTV.

Both agreed that the early Black Friday was something that had to be experienced in person.

Lounging in pajama trousers and holding a book, Chris Shogren sat outside of the State College Best Buy on North Atherton Street eagerly waiting for the Black Friday deals. “We did shifts instead of being here all day”.

“I’m actually Canadian”, Morris said, “so it’s a little bit different for us”.

“We go home and eat, or bring turkey here thanksgiving dinner or lunch”, said Hassan.
