Shops Encourage Shopping Local on Small Business Saturday

With Black Friday and Cyber Monday generating millions of dollars each year, small businesses owners and organizations want consumers to shop small.

As we can see, it’s really about the little guys, and there’s no sign that Small Business Saturday will be going away anytime soon. “You get the personalized service and that kind of thing at quilt shops”, says Davis.

Rachel Levey told 22News, “It’s important to support your community.

We have lots of new businesses downtown that we hope people will come down and support”, Elizabeth Leis, co-owner of Nitza’s, said.

Doors open at Blue Skies in Chattanooga for Small Business Saturday.

“Even people that don’t shop with us, that bought things online, we still try to help them out”. Shoppers are offered incentives to go store-to-store and, once they finish their passport, they can win prizes. The Bleu Frog will be offering 15 percent off store-wide, a ideal opportunity to kick start your holiday shopping process. But they still know the effect can last long after day’s end.

On Small Business Saturday, local shops are encouraging customers to put money back into their communities, to help cities and villages continue to grow.

“I like supporting small individual businesses, they treat us right every time we come here”.

“We have items you’re not going to find at big chains”.

Store owners added that eating at local restaurants and shopping in local stores keeps money within the community and boosts the local economy. “Someone to give you information and knowledge about the product you’re buying and I think we can compete with sale prices as much as anybody”, says Loeb.
