Shorts weather this Christmas, scattered showers — FIRST ALERT FORECAST
Florence had already hit 77 degrees on Christmas Eve, breaking the record of 76. From now through Christmas Day, records are expected from Texas, through the Gulf Coast, mid-Atlantic, and even New England.

The most recent snowfall on Christmas Day was in 2008 and the region was embedded in an extended cold and snowy weather period that started on December 13 and ran through the end of the year.
“The maximum temperature will be 14 degrees”. That will bring another chance of rain and storms early next week.
It’s another chapter in what has been an incredibly warm December over much of the Eastern United States, a pattern that some meteorologists have coined the “blowtorch”.
This month alone, more than 2,600 record high temperatures have been recorded and many more are expected before the New Year.
If you’re hoping to see the white stuff on Christmas, don’t count on it in some of the usual snowy scapes.
“On Christmas Eve it’s going to be showers and a little bit of sunshine at around 5˚C then on Christmas Day, heavy rain, though not particularly windy”. That is about 4 degrees above the record for the warmest December on record (2006).
“Wednesday will be cloudy with temperatures around 7˚C, with a low of 4˚C at night – so there’s no danger of ground frost during the night”. Severe weather will be possible with large hail, damaging wind, flood producing rainfall, and a few tornadoes all possible.

Temperatures will turn only slightly cooler for the upcoming weekend.
