Hutchinson’s death prompted a flurry of speculation as it came amid the fatal shootings of five police officers in Dallas and the ambush and killing of three law enforcement officers in Louisiana. The evidence that has been collected has been sent to a forensics lab for further testing.

The investigation to find the killers received about 100 tips in the case. Gravell declined to specify which results he was waiting for.

When Sgt. Hutchinson’s body was found in the early morning hours of July 25; it came minutes after the Travis County Sheriff’s Department dispatch received a call from him reporting prowlers in his backyard and requesting the assistance of Round Rock police.

A reward is out for information leading to the arrest of his killer.

Banks said Wednesday that investigators have not identified any suspects in Hutchinson’s death.

Hutchinson, 54, was a 32-year veteran set to retire in September. His funeral was held Tuesday and drew thousands. Hutchinson had trained Hamilton.

Banks would not take any questions from the media and would only say that investigation is still “ongoing and active”. “This guy was a big teddy bear”. The outpouring of support from our community has been tremendous and we thank you for that.
