Our research team dug into OH state law and found that emergencies give the governor power to do a lot of things, like stockpile supplies and spend state money.

Kasich says the bonds between communities and police must be reset and rebuilt.

About 500 protesters, including some gun-toting gun rights activists, participated in marches or rallies during the first full day of the convention – far fewer than the numbers predicted by protest group organizers.

“Sometimes we’ll get a weekend with nothing at all happening and sometimes we’ll get a weekend as violent as this past weekend”, said Williams, noting that the department did have “plenty of officers out”. “They have no concern about the impact in urban environments that are already plagued by too many guns and too much violence”.

On Monday, the first day of rallies outside the convention featured angry words and a small number of demonstrators openly carrying guns as allowed under OH law, but none of the violence many feared could erupt in this summer of violence in the US and overseas. But in this state, everyone has the right to open carry.

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump posted a message on his Facebook and Twitter accounts, condemning the attack and calling for action.

Loomis said, “The president of the Untied States validated a false narrative and the nonsense that Black Lives Matter and the media are pressing out there to the public – validated with his very divisive statements. We demand law and order”, he said.

Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams said Monday that police officers are being told to be especially cautious.

Authorities say a Cleveland police officer on a motorcycle suffered injuries after he was sideswiped by a van.

Kim Snyder, a non-denominational minister from nearby Parma, Ohio, wearing a “Free Hugs” T-shirt, said that the recent attacks on police in Baton Rouge and Dallas drove her out to the demonstrations to “pray for” the police officers on duty and to help “deescalate” any tension.

A suburban Cleveland man drew attention Sunday afternoon when he stood in the city’s Public Square with a semi-automatic rifle strapped over his shoulder and a.45-caliber handgun holstered on his hip. “They can fight about it after the RNC or they can lift it after the RNC, but I want him to absolutely outlaw open-carry in Cuyahoga County until this RNC is over”.

“We’ve had our law enforcement partners on the local side coming into town for the last two and a half days”. In addition to 1,300 Cleveland Police officers, thousands of officers from other jurisdictions, including the Secret Service and Federal Bureau of Investigation will be assisting in keeping the peace.
