In regards to the plot, the Duffer Brothers said there are several loose ends from season one “that are unresolved”.

Are you excited for Stranger Things Season 2? On Wednesday morning, Netflix officially announced that Stranger Things will return for Season 2. First, we learned that the second season will be longer than the first, tallying a total nine episodes instead of the previous eight.

Stranger Things was created by Matt and Ross Duffer as a love letter to the suburban supernatural films of the ’80s. Entertainment Weekly spoke to the creators about the next season, which will bring back characters Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Joyce (Ryder), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and others.

These titles leave us wondering what odd occurrences will happen next, although we can probably expect to see how Will is coping now that he has returned from the Upside Down. Matt said, “So we definitely want to explore a little bit more”.

“I know movie sequels get a lot of shit, but the ones we look up to aspire to pivot and do something different”, adds Matt. No casting has been confirmed, but the show is expected to follow numerous same leads from season 1.

The Duffers told EW.com that they considered using a flash-forward for Season 2 before settling on simply continuing the story from where Season 1 left off. We all knew the smash-hit horror series would return, so the really exciting thing about this news is the accompanying teaser trailer.
