Showtime boss thinks Mayweather-Pacquiao II could happen “if fans demand it”

Leonard Ellerbe, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, threw cold water Wednesday on speculation that there could be a rematch of the 2015 bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. I think the only fight Pacquiao will come back for is Mayweather, and I don’t see that fight happening. But I love my family, and I won’t hurt my family, my kids. “I’ve really appreciated all your help and support”. “Give Pacquiao credit. I didn’t do a good enough job for Bradley”.

Espinoza said: ‘Pacquiao looked as good as at any time in the last four years.

It wasn’t pretty, and given the astronomically high prices charged, why anyone who bought the first one would even think of buying it again is beyond me. In the seventh round, he seemed to graze Bradley with a pair of punches and Bradley went to his knees for what referee Tony Weeks ruled a knockdown.

“He was strong, man”, Bradley said.

Ringside punching stats showed Pacquiao landing 122 of 439 punches to 99 of 302 for Bradley.

“What I felt tonight was I feel fresh”, he said. He hadn’t scored a knockout at 147 pounds since stopping Miguel Cotto in 2009, and went after Bradley with big left hands to try to break that streak. “After this fight, I’m going back home and spend time with them and focus to help the people in the Philippines”, the 8-time divisional champion said in regards to leaving his reign in the sport of boxing. After his defeat, Bradley congratulated Pacquiao and vowed to return to the ring.

Bradley vowed this would be his best fight, with new trainer Teddy Atlas in the corner giving him instructions. “I remember when I started boxing here in America in 2001”.

As it is, we all knew about the loss sustained by Pacquiao in another arena, namely the social political landscape when he made the controversial comment on same-sex marriage that drew the ire of the country’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. “The thing is, I’m sure that if we fought a guy like that, we’d have to put a cap on how much weight he can gain after the weigh-in”.

Pacquiao, who was using his ring experience advantage in the fight, began to lure the desperate Bradley into attack mode; he feigned injury and got Bradley to come forward and become reckless with his shot selection. So that mainly leaves another Pacquiao bout, a “super fight” that didn’t fulfill the expectations of many fans the first time around.
