Ex- North Carolina State University pitcher Carlos Rodon, the third pick in the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft in 2014 by the Chicago White Sox, had a gutsy outing on Friday afternoon.

The half dozen walks matched a career high for Rodon. Right-handed reliever David Robertson struck out two batters in a 1-2-3 ninth for his 19th save. Samardzija got All-Star Josh Donaldson to ground into an inning-ending double play.

“I had pretty good command of everything, ” Lester said.

Here are your lineups for today’s game.

Kyle Hendricks has been red-hot lately as he hasn’t given up an run in his last three starts (spanning 19 1/3 innings) and the White Sox couldn’t figure out his change up. Without that I would have probably been gone by the fourth. White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu couldn’t corral it and it would have ended up in the dugout if not for some fencing.

The Sox have won 52 of the 98 games in the series.

[NBC SHOP: Gear up, White Sox fans!]. White Sox outfielder Avisail Garcia did the equivalent of that on Friday, almost screwing up a great catch multiple times but he still walked away with a double play.

As Garcia went to the ground and tumbled over, the baseball squirted out of his glove leading to mass confusion on the field and especially on the basepaths. Despite some mixed results, he’s done some remarkable things. Ramirez has a seven-game hitting streak going, but hasn’t driven in a run since June 21. He has been giving up a lot of home runs, three in his last two games, while allowing four runs in five innings in his most recent start.

Pinch-hitter Emilio Bonifacio broke a scoreless tie in the eighth inning, scoring on J.B. He’s struggling mightily at the plate, though, hitting just. The late-game shadows that arrive during a 3:05 p.m. start do no favors for the hitters.
