Sia’s “Bird Set Free”: Listen To Yet Another Song Rejected By Adele

When I clicked back onto my Facebook I saw that Sia had released another new song called Bird Set Free – a title that could nearly be the way to describe the song in three words. But the singer ultimately decided against including it on her album, so Sia kept it for herself instead. The artists worked together for Adele’s 25, and while their collaborations didn’t make the cut, two songs became singles for Sia.

“Bird Set Free” follows the recently released ‘Alive’, which was created originally for Adele with Tobias Esso Jr. The song, which will be on Sia’s This is Acting, due out January 29, is a triumphal exploration of regaining your voice. “And it’s all these male producers, and they’re all fu–ng shitting themselves ’cause we’re in there”.

She also repeats “I don’t want to die” before moving into a chorus where she sings: “I sing for love I sing for me/ I shout it out like a bird set free”.

Maintaining her career throughline of being spectacular, the single tells the story of a person struggling to find their metaphorical wings and once doing so, taking off into the exciting unknown.
