Sia has also recently announced plans to direct a film starring Maddie Ziegler, the dancer who has become notorious with the singer-songwriter following her appearances in the music videos for Chandelier, Elastic Heart and Cheap Thrills. Friendship is Magic director Jayson Thiessen is helming the movie, and Meghan McCarthy, another Friendship is Magic veteran, wrote the screenplay with Rita Hsiao.
Uzo Aduba, Emily Blunt, Kristen Chenoweth, Taye Diggs, Michael Pena and Liev Schrieber will also lend their voices to My Little Pony: The Movie.
My Little Pony: The Movie is set to be released in cinemas October 2017.
The story centers on the “Mane 6” characters – Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Rarity – embarking on a journey to meet new friends and challenges on a quest to use the magic of friendship and save their home.
