“Lance Havildar Bhawan Tamang, who was earlier rescued from an avalanche in Turtuk Sector succumbed to his injuries”.
Lance Havildar Bhawan Tamang was a resident of Lopshu village of West Bengal’s Darjeeling.
“The Indian Army fraternity stands shoulder to shoulder with the bereaved families in their hour of grief”, said Lt Gen DS Hooda, army commander, Northern Command expressing his condolences to the families.
Though a search was immediately launched by the Army, the missing soldier is still untraceable, said an official. One soldier has been rescued from the avalanche so far.
