Current Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn can proceed onto the party’s leadership ballot without securing nominations from MPs, the court has ruled.

The betting odds suggest Jeremy Corbyn is a clear favourite to beat Owen Smith, even if those are based on thin information.
Instead the event has been organised by Momentum Brighton and Hove – part of a nationwide network of supporters of Mr Corbyn.
“I do worry about there being a split – I say that very seriously”.
Labour MPs might not like it, but if Mr Corbyn is re-elected with an overwhelming majority, they may have little option.
As I suspect most Labour party members care a lot more about staying in the single market than they do about controlling immigration, it is important for Smith to signal where his priorities lie.
The opposition leader became under huge pressure after Britons made a decision to leave the European Union (EU) during a referendum on June 23.
Shadow chancellor John McDonnell urged Mr Smith to condemn ” the minority of MPs supporting his campaign who are threatening to subvert the outcome of this election and cause enormous damage to the Labour Party”.
He added: “I think Labour is standing on the edge of the precipice right now”.
Bristol North West and Bristol East Constituency Labour Party (CLP) groups both held meetings this week where a vote was taken by members.

If Corbyn is leading Labour in the right direction then challenging his leadership feels like an awfully unusual move on Smith’s behalf.
THE 1983 General Election is widely considered to have been the nadir of the Labour Party. In a set of policies that disappeared from his personal website shortly after Corbyn appointed him to the role of shadow chancellor last September, the diehard socialist proposed full public ownership of Britain’s banking system in order “to take control of our casino economy”.
He spoke of the “co-ordinated resignation” of more than 60 MPs over the course of a week in an attempt to persuade him to resign but insisted he had been given a mandate by party members.
One of the biggest trade unions will today decide who to support in the Labour leadership contest.

Undeniably, to some degree, we have to thank Corbyn for engaging first time voters and those who have felt detached from the Labour movement, forgotten by the New Labour project.
