Sidhu formally resigns from BJP

On Sunday, Congress lashed out on Navjot Singh Sidhu and said that it suspected the new outfit floated by him was a “BJP-sponsored programme” to divide anti-incumbency votes. “This is not a democracy, this is a dictatorship”.
She also showed interest in joining her husband’s party saying, “If some front puts interest of Punjab as its priority then I will surely join it: Navjot Kaur on Awaaz e Punjab”. He will also be the chief ministerial candidate of his party for the upcoming assembly elections in Punjab.
“I am an individual; I have only picked up issues of my zone. If I raise social issues, how is it anti-party activity?” the BJP MLA added.
Former India cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu had not formally resigned from the BJP even after quitting the Rajya Sabha post as he held talks with Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.
“Whoever will be in favour of Punjab, I will be in favour of that system”.
Jarnail Singh, the Aam Aadmi Party’s co-convener for Punjab, has said Sidhu was trying to help the Akalis by dividing Opposition votes.
Sidhu alleged that the AAP leader was speaking half-truth as he told him not to contest polls and only campaign but will make his wife a minister.
Sidhu had resigned from the Rajya Sabha on July 18, fuelling speculation that he may join the AAP.

Last week, playing the cards close to his chest, Sidhu launched “Awaaz-E-Punjab”, attacking the Akali- BJP combine, Congress and the AAP but gave no indication about who he will align with in the Assembly elections.
