Sidney Crosby and Stanley Cup spottings in Cole Harbour

The Penguins captain proudly paraded the Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe Trophy through Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, on Saturday.

Sidney Crosby made a surprise trip to his hometown Friday with the Stanley Cup.

Crosby stopped by the hockey school he runs there to show his support for some of his biggest fans, and wow them with a glimpse of Lord Stanley.

The Pittsburgh Penguins captain has the Stanley Cup in town for a parade on Saturday to celebrate his team’s National Hockey League title win this season.

Each player of the Cup-winning team gets brief custody of the trophy. Crosby also showcased his Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoffs MVP.

MacFarlane said Crosby stayed for about 15 minutes, taking photos with everyone. Crosby said. “It’s definitely a special feeling, a feeling of pride, a sense of community here. All the girls were all excited and happy”, MacFarlane said.

He helped them to their fourth overall Stanley Cup and their first since 2009 and he chose to show the trophy off at his hockey school on Friday.

It isn’t the first time Crosby brought the Cup back to Nova Scotia either. He stepped onto a wharf, the Cup aloft over his head, to cheers from hundreds of fans.
