Sidney Crosby takes Stanley Cup to air carrier, hometown coffee shop

Crosby was decked out in shorts, a black ball cap and a T-shirt proclaiming “Stanley Cup Champions 2016”. The crowd was a sea of Crosby jerseys, with everyone from grandfathers to sleeping infants donning the number 87.

The coffee shop was one of Crosby’s favorites as a kid, so he decided that he would pay them back with a little visit while dragging along the most prestigious trophy in hockey.

“We came up to the front and saw Sidney Crosby walk through with the Stanley Cup and the Conn Smythe Trophy”.

Police on motorcycles sounded their sirens and other vehicles blasted horns as the procession moved along the parade route in Cole Harbour on Saturday.

Probably not as big as Pittsburgh’s parade, but still pretty special, with 10s of thousands of people there according to the Keeper of the Cup, Phillip Pritchard.

Sidney Crosby showed off the Stanley Cup to his hometown fans. Crosby also took along the Conn Smythe trophy, the award given to the Finals MVP.

Crosby’s fellow Maritimers crafted their own tributes to “Sid the Kid”.

Hockey fans in Cole Harbour, N.S., were in for a surprise visit Friday.

This is the second time the Stanley Cup will be in Cole Harbour.

But then, of course, he’s Sidney Crosby.

Sidney Crosby admitted Saturday he hasn’t gotten much sleep since taking possession of the Stanley Cup, but said being able to celebrate with as many family members, friends and fans as possible has made the lack of shut eye more than worth it.
